You want to feel awesome & live a freedom lifestyle.
You want to make a change but don't know where to begin.
Hi I’m Miriam Colomby, and it has become my mission to help people “live life without limitations”. The limitations we face are different but can be overcome. I'd like to share some of my story with you.
When I was a child I was what I would consider now, sickly. I had allergies that required monthly needles and frequent bouts of tonsillitis, to the point the doctors wanted to remove my tonsils. (I fought this and to this day still have them.) I was relatively active, as kids were in those days, playing outside, riding bikes, climbing trees and doing track & field at school. We ate mostly good homemade food from the farm and garden including some of my Mom’s baking – which was limited to 2 cookies at a time and yet I was not healthy by my standards now.
My first introduction into a more holistic lifestyle was in my early 20’s when my sister, who had been learning from my cousin, started sharing this information with me.
At that time in my life I had outgrown my issues with allergies and tonsillitis so thought I was fairly healthy and did not need to change anything. I did however have low back pain for which I saw a Chiropractor regularly.
If you have ever experienced back pain, you will understand how debilitating it can be. Like a toothache it is something you cannot ignore. I would drive from North Bay to Timmins to see our family Chiropractor, Dr. Tony Martin every month during my first pregnancy. My back was worse during my 2nd pregnancy two years later to the point where I would spend an hour or two sleeping in bed, then move to the couch and finally the floor just to try to find some comfortable to spot to get some sleep. I continued off and on with chiropractic in North Bay over the years when my back would flare up.
In my late 20’s I found out I had an overactive thyroid. It caused a constant feeling of hunger even after eating, nervous energy, weight loss, and the feeling that I was going to pass out from exhaustion just walking up a flight of stairs. Once again the doctor’s solution was to remove or kill off body parts – which I fought against again and with the assistance of my sister, found a natural, health supporting solution to my problem. I was told by my doctors that I could not heal this condition but I am now in my late 40’s and am still keeping my thyroid healthy through diet.
Also in my late 20’s the company I was working for offered employees a discounted membership to Goodlife Fitness. This was where I discovered my love for improving and supporting health through fitness. While I had always enjoyed physical activity, like most parents I did little of it while raising my children.
I starting putting the pieces together of strengthening muscles to support the body and reduce or eliminate back pain (which I rarely have now) and proper nutrition to support a healthy weight and overall health. After seeing a posting at GoodLife for becoming a Personal Training Specialist I knew that was what I was supposed to be doing.
I took that training and began working as a Personal Trainer at GoodLife where I gained a great deal of experience and had the opportunity to take advantage of several specialty training courses including:
- Functional Muscular Assessment & Graduated Exercise Certification Level 1 – October 2009
- Stretch Basics Certificate Course – May 2010
- Training For Optimal Back Health Certificate Course – May 2010
- Functional Muscular Assessment & Graduated Exercise Certification Level 2 – November 2011
Now I am using my knowledge and passion for healing the body & mind through exercise and nutrition to help others enjoy the success I have.
If you are struggling with weight or health, feeling like crap and are ready to change I am here to help you on that journey to feeling the best you’ve ever felt!
